Another Stover is now "officially" a Buckeye.
Freshman linebacker Garrett Stover, the cousin of former Ohio State tight end Cade Stover, became the 16th Buckeye freshman to shed his black stripe on Wednesday.

The No. 213 prospect in the 247Sports composite, Stover was considered the No. 19 linebacker and No. 8 recruit from Ohio in the class of 2024. Despite offers from Florida, Kentucky, Michigan State, Notre Dame and a host of other schools, there was little doubt the Sunbury, Ohio native would be a Buckeye. After he was given his scholarship opportunity from the team on June 1, 2022, he became one of the 2024 class' first commits on Nov. 21, 2022.
Stover's freshman year has primarily been about waiting and learning from more veteran linebackers ahead of him on Ohio State's depth chart. He played his first defensive snap of the season against Purdue with special teams action against Akron and Western Michigan, then made his first travel roster for the Buckeyes' game against Northwestern at Wrigley Field this past weekend.
