Ohio State expects to have Will Kacmarek back in the tight end rotation against Indiana.

After saying Wednesday that it looked like Kacmarek was “going to be ready to play” this week, Ryan Day doubled down on that on Thursday’s radio show, saying that he is “looking forward to getting Will Kacmarek back” for Saturday’s top-five showdown with the Hoosiers.

“He's had a good week of practice, and we'll see how he does tomorrow and see what he says and see what the doctors say. But he's had a good week, and I think he'll be available,” Day said Wednesday.

Kacmarek is poised to return to action after missing four games with an injury he suffered on the opening drive of Ohio State’s loss to Oregon.

Before that injury, Kacmarek was Ohio State’s No. 2 tight end and split the majority of first-team snaps with Gee Scott Jr. He’ll likely resume that role upon his return, as he is regarded as Ohio State’s top blocking tight end, though Bennett Christian and Jelani Thurman have also seen regular playing time behind Scott while Kacmarek has been sidelined.

As Ohio State enters the homestretch of its season, Kacmarek could play a valuable role in the Buckeyes’ tight end rotation, particularly with his ability to provide blocking help on the edge for an offensive line that has now lost two of its best players, left tackle Josh Simmons and center Seth McLaughlin, to season-ending injuries.
