Make it four straight weeks at No. 2 for the Buckeyes.

On Tuesday, the College Football Playoff committee ranked Ohio State as the second-best team in America. Two more weeks remain until the committee sets the inaugural 12-team field.

The Buckeyes came in behind Oregon in the third rankings. The rest of the top 12 consists of Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, SMU, Indiana, Boise State and Clemson.

Ohio State is 10-1 after 13 weeks of the 2024 college football season. The Buckeyes have defeated Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, then-No. 3 Penn State, Purdue, Northwestern and then-No. 5 Indiana. The last of those victories occurred this past weekend, a 38-15 statement win over the Hoosiers in Columbus. The team's lone blemish, a 32-31 loss to then-No. 3 Oregon, occurred on Oct. 12 in Eugene.

According to the College Football Power Index, Oregon and Ohio State are locks to make the CFP at 99.9 and 99.4 percent. Provided Penn State and Indiana take care of business this weekend and beat Maryland and Purdue, the Nittany Lions and Hoosiers should be in, too, with their odds marked at 98.8 and 97.4 percent.

This week, Big Ten leads all conferences with four teams in the field. The SEC (three) and ACC (three) are the only other leagues with more than one representative, as the Mountain West and Independents each have one school in the mix. The Big 12's highest-ranked team is currently Arizona State at No. 16.
