Jeremiah Smith added another note to his record-breaking freshman season with the Buckeyes.
Smith surpassed the 1,000-yard mark with his fourth catch in Ohio State's 13th game of the season against Tennessee, becoming the 10th Buckeye to accomplish that feat.
Before 2021, Ohio State had five receivers top 1,000 receiving yards in a single season: Cris Carter (1986), Terry Glenn (1995), David Boston (1998), Michael Jenkins (2002) and Parris Campbell (2018). Now that Smith has reached 1,000 yards, the Buckeyes have had the same number of receivers reach that mark in the past four seasons, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba (2021), Garrett Wilson (2021), Emeka Egbuka (2022) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (2022 and 2023).

JEREMIAH SMITH | 2024 | 13 | TBD |
Smith becoming Ohio State’s first-ever 1,000-yard freshman receiver is one of many accomplishments for the Florida native this year. Earlier in 2024, Smith broke Carter's single-season records for catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns from a freshman. Carter held those records for 40 years after setting them in 1984.
Entering Saturday, Smith led Ohio State's wide receiver room with 57 catches for 934 yards and 11 total touchdowns. Saturday night’s game was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season with the first three coming against Western Michigan, then-No. 3 Oregon and Northwestern.
He scored touchdowns on Ohio State’s opening drives of both halves, scoring from 37 yards out in the first quarter and 22 yards out in the third quarter.
