Okay. I, uh... what do we have here? What did we learn from this? Anything? Anything at all?
No? We'll just keep watching the same head slam into the same wall over and over again for eternity? Sweet.
And look, I grew up in the 90's, which means I'm exactly the right age to avoid having this loss be truly devastating to my sanity, but also it sure as hell feels pretty damn familiar. I will say that this particular loss to Michigan has its own special flavor of vomit in that an obviously superior Ohio State team seemed utterly hell-bent on playing literally the only kind of football that would lead to a loss to a one-dimensional opponent, but... oh, wait, my apologies: it's the same damn thing. I'm 11 again and nothing matters.
If you play not to lose, you make it much more difficult to win. My hope is that Ryan Day and Chip Kelly (re-re-re) learn this before the Buckeyes likely host what is going to be the weirdest denouement in Ohio State history.

All 10 Michigan points have come on drives where it didnt get a first down.

Say what you want about Ryan Day but credit to him for getting all of the coaches and players on board with purposely trying to avoid the Big Ten Championship game to be fresh for the playoff. 4d chess move

I cant believe this guy was aggressive all season on 4th down just to cower against Michigan and settle for a field position game and field goals - only to miss them!

ANYWAY:
you can literally feel how furious every Ohio State fan in that building is ... people just blood-screaming in-between every play when Ohio State has the ball, that calm nervous buzz every time they get into a huddle

Defense cannot bail you out forever. Just a completely neutered OSU offensive approach.

What an unbelievable scene at Ohio Stadium. Postgame melee between the teams. Police sprayed pepper spray. Unreal.

Michigan tried to plant the flag again at midfield, Jack Sawyer ripped it off and threw it. pic.twitter.com/xpU0fWbVof

If Ohio State makes a FG against Georgia in 2022, Ryan Day probably has a national championship. Make chip shot FGs today and you avoid this loss.

It's a game of inches and Ohio State is almost always short of them in the biggest games.

The only advantage Michigan had in that game on paper was its defensive tackles, and Ohio States offensive gameplan was to run directly into their facemasks 25 times

Think 2024 might top them all.
Ohio State was shut out in the second half and its last first down was with 5:59 of the third quarter.

I find that even more stunning than losing the game to Michigan.
Mel Tucker has more wins against Michigan than Ryan Day.

After Ohio State's missed FG late in the third quarter to keep the game at 10-10, here's how both sides played the rest of the game out:

- Michigan: 27 plays, 134 yards, 15:01 TOP
- Ohio State: 7 plays, 10 yards, 1:57 TOP

And now the Buckeyes play Tennessee, or something? Things are getting progressively more weird, so we'll be here for that. See you... eventually!
