Howard has elevated his NFL draft stock in his fifth year of playing college football, completing 72.3% of his passing attempts – which would be an Ohio State school record if it holds through the end of the season – for 2,860 yards and 27 touchdowns with eight interceptions.
He’s coming off of his worst game as a Buckeye against Michigan, completing just 19 of 33 passing attempts in The Game for 175 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions, but he’ll have a chance to get his draft stock trending back in the right direction at the Senior Bowl. Howard will be the first quarterback from Ohio State to play in the Senior Bowl since Troy Smith in 2007.
First, though, Howard has an even bigger opportunity to elevate his NFL draft stock if he can lead Ohio State on a deep run in the College Football Playoff, which is Howard’s top priority following the Buckeyes’ devastating loss to the Wolverines.
“We can still run the table and win a national championship. I think, at the end of the day, that's what we have to focus on. And that's got to keep us going because this one hurts like hell,” Howard said after Ohio State’s loss on Saturday.
Howard is the second Ohio State player to accept an invitation to the 2025 Senior Bowl, joining fellow fifth-year senior offseason transfer Seth McLaughlin. McLaughlin will be unable to play in the Senior Bowl, however, after tearing his Achilles during a November practice.
