Attending the first College Football Playoff game at Ohio Stadium won't be cheap.
As fans wait for Ohio State-Tennessee tickets to become available for the general public at 10 a.m. on Thursday, the resale market has soared on Ticketmaster as prices range from $344 to a jaw-dropping $5,000. The cheapest tickets available for the CFP matchup are in C deck, while the most expensive tickets are in A deck and the Huntington Club.
Ohio State is the No. 8 seed and Tennessee is the No. 9 seed in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. The Big Ten and SEC teams will battle at 8 p.m. on Dec. 21, marking the first December game in Ohio Stadium's 102-year history.
Prices will start at $100 when tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday. The cutoff for season ticket holders to request their normal ticket and parking locations was Monday at noon. The same deadline existed for students entering a random drawing for tickets to the contest. Season ticket holders interested in purchasing additional tickets will have the opportunity to do so Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
Additionally, an allotment of 3,500 tickets has been reserved for Tennessee to sell to its fans.
As the Buckeyes prepare to face the Volunteers in Columbus, Ryan Day said he and his players are looking forward to another opportunity to play at the Horseshoe in 2024.
"We're excited about playing the first-ever playoff game in Ohio Stadium," he said. "Ohio Stadium's been around a long time, over 100 years. There's been a lot of great games, but never a playoff game like this. A night game, 8 o'clock, it's gonna be electric. Our guys are going to be excited about this."
