Ryan Day still needs more time to decide how Ohio State will use its final spring practice of 2025.

In an interview with The Columbus Dispatch this week, Day said he has not yet decided what the format will be for Ohio State's Spring Showcase, which replaces the program's traditional spring game or intrasquad scrimmage.

"To sit here and tell you I know exactly what the format is going to be, I don't know right now," Day said.

Conscious of Ohio State's 16-game 2024 season and the wear and tear on each of his players, Day wants to exercise caution in March and April as the Buckeyes prepare for 2025. However, he doesn't want to follow Nebraska, Texas or USC in scrapping a public event at the end of the spring.

"We want to do the best we can to put our guys in the stadium on that day and let them feel what it's like to play in a game," Day said, "because until we kick off against Texas in the first game, that'll be the only other opportunity for those guys to feel what a game is like. We have a lot of younger guys that haven't played a lot of football. I don't want to lose that opportunity."

As for what that opportunity will be, Day said he and his staff hope to have something official a couple of weeks into spring ball.

"I think we have to see how the first couple weeks of spring practice go," Day said, "see how healthy we are, and go from there."
