Ohio State’s first black stripe removal of 2025 came after the Buckeyes’ seventh practice of the spring on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman cornerback Miles Lockhart became the first Buckeye to shed his black stripe this spring.

A four-star recruit in the 2024 class, Lockhart did not play any snaps as a true freshman. Now in his second spring with the Buckeyes, Lockhart is competing to climb the depth chart at slot cornerback. He started the spring as Ohio State’s No. 3 slot cornerback behind Lorenzo Styles Jr. and fellow second-year Bryce West, with projected starting cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr. also taking some reps in the slot, as those Buckeyes compete to replace Jordan Hancock in this year’s starting lineup.
With Lockhart’s stripe removal, just four members of Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class still have their black stripes: Defensive linemen Dominic Kirks and Eric Mensah, wide receiver Damarion Witten and punter Nick McLarty.
