For the sixth time this season an Ohio State player has been named one of Big Ten Hockey’s Stars of the Week. Nick Schilkey makes the list as the Second Star for an outstanding series at No. 15 Penn State. The junior led all B1G skaters in points last week, posting a five spot against the Nittany Lions.

The Marysville, Michigan native notched a power play tally in Friday’s contest, bringing his 2015-16 total to a career best 14 goals. Schilkey played a subtle, but crucial role in Saturday’s upset victory, assisting on four of the Buckeyes’ seven scores. The offensive outburst vaulted Schilkey back into the team lead in points (30). He also tops the Scarlet and Gray in overall goals (14) and power play goals (6).
The conference’s First and Third Stars were awarded to Michigan’s Kyle Connor and Penn State’s David Goodwin. Connor recorded two goals, including the gamewinner, and an assist in the Wolverines’ win over Ferris State. This increased the freshman’s NCAA-leading points total to 51. Goodwin became the Nittany Lions’ all-time points leader (84) with two goals and two assists in the split with Ohio State.
Schilkey and the Buckeyes are back in action this week. They are scheduled to host Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday. As it is the final home series at the Schott, the team’s seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony. (A home-and-home against Michigan remains, but Ohio State will host that game at Nationwide Arena.)
