A Buckeye star will represent Team USA.
Senior Kelsey Mitchell was named to the USA Basketball U23 National Team that will play in the Four Nations Tournament in Tokyo later this month.
Mitchell was one of 12 players chosen from the 37 who participated in tryouts at the USA Basketball Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She'll stay in Colorado to train ahead of the tournament, which kicks off Aug. 12 as the Americans face Australia.
Mitchell, the only Big Ten product to make the U23 team, put up a game-high 19 points to lead her team to the training camp tournament championship Friday, topping fellow Buckeye Linnae Harper's team 77-74 to take home the intra-squad championship.
A three-time first team All-American, Mitchell led the Big Ten in scoring with 22.6 points per game last season on the way to earning Big Ten Conference Player of the Year honors.
