Ohio State women's basketball is in prime position for the NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA women's basketball selection committee released its first of two in-season top 16s on Thursday night and the Buckeyes landed at No. 3, positioning themselves for a No. 1 seed in the tourney.

Ohio State, also ranked No. 2 in the latest AP poll, is on a 12-game winning streak after demolishing Nebraska 80-47 on Wednesday. Only South Carolina, currently 23-0 on the season, and Stanford are ranked ahead of them in the selection committee’s rankings.

The Buckeyes' winning streak includes marquee wins over AP No. 4 Iowa and No. 14 Indiana. Their NET ranking is currently eighth in the nation.

Both the Hawkeyes and Hoosiers also made the selection committee's top 16, placing fifth and 15th to be a No. 2 and 4 seed, respectively. That makes three total Big Ten teams in the committee's top 16.

The NCAA women's selection committee will release its second in-season top 16 on Feb. 29 before Selection Sunday on March 17.

After a week off, Ohio State looks to extend its winning streak to 13 games and maintain its placement in the first seed line of the tournament when it plays Penn State on Feb. 22. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
