Ohio State would be a No. 4 seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament if the field was set today.
The Buckeyes are currently ranked 14th overall by the NCAA Tournament selection committee, which revealed its current top-16 rankings in its first rankings reveal of the year on Sunday, four weeks before the actual bracket will be unveiled.

Ohio State would currently be slotted to play in the Birmingham 2 region with Texas as the No. 1 seed, UConn as the No. 2 seed and North Carolina as the No. 3 seed.
The Buckeyes are currently ranked ninth in the AP Top 25 with a 21-3 record this season, but were likely dinged for their strength of schedule by the committee. Ohio State did not play any ranked opponents during non-conference play and has just one win this season over a team currently ranked in the AP poll (Maryland).
Ohio State is one of three Big Ten teams in the current top 16 along with No. 1 UCLA and No. 5 USC.

If Ohio State can finish the season in the top 16 of the selection committee’s rankings, it will earn the opportunity to host first- and second-round NCAA Tournament games at the Schottenstein Center for the third year in a row.
Ohio State will look to bolster its résumé with three more wins over the next seven days as the Buckeyes host Iowa on Monday (Noon, FOX), play at Indiana on Thursday (7 p.m., Peacock) and host Purdue next Sunday (Noon, Big Ten Network).
