When classes begin in a few weeks, Nathan Tomasello will have an interesting fact to mention when he's asked what he did on his summer vacation. Tomasello went to Romania and took the gold medal at the Ion Cornianu & Ladislau Simon 2017 at 57 kg on Saturday, defeating the Romanian Olympian, Ivan Guydia, on his way to the title.

The Buckeye captain is heading into his senior campaign with a national title and three All-American finishes to his credit and can now lay claim to a gold medal earned in his first international tournament. Tomasello went 4-0 on the day, outscoring his opponents 31-8 to make the championship bout. Tomasello defeated Russia's Nikolai Okhlopkov in the gold medal match to claim the title.

Tomasello is the second current Buckeye to dominate the field in international competitions this month as Kyle Snyder and Buckeye alum Logan Stieber each shut out the competition at the Spain Grand Prix.

Tomasello will look to put a stamp on his career with a second national title to bookend two third place NCAA finishes.
