The Iowa State legacy is a high priority for Buckeye coach Tom Ryan, who wants to keep the hottest in-state prospects at home whenever possible. Carr will visit Columbus this weekend, and will visit his father Nate Carr's alma mater in Ames in two weeks, according to FloWrestling.
Carr won the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D. in July, with five of six wins coming by tech fall. He has competed on the world stage as well, bringing home a bronze medal from the 2016 Cadet World Championships. He won his fourth state title earlier this year, capping off a stellar season at Massillon Perry (he earned a varsity state title in Kentucky as an 8th grader).
Ohio State currently has six commitments in the Class of 2018 as tracked by InterMat, including two Top 20 pledges in Gavin Huffman and Jaden Mattox.
