After a report last week about Oregon, Ohio, (a Toledo suburb) would be renaming itself during next week's Ohio State-Oregon national title game, Oregon's mayor, Mike Seferian, said yesterday the town would not be honoring the online petition that started the movement. After all, as Seferian pointed out: Oregon the town predates Oregon the state.
But alas! In a maneuver that will be studied in Ohio high school civics classes for generations, it looks like a comprise has been reached.
Starting today: The City of Oregon, Ohio, will officially be known as "Oregon, Ohio Buckeyes on the Bay, City of Duck Hunters." It will last through January 12th.
