Ohio State conquers Chicago with a 31-7 beatdown of Northwestern at Wrigley Field.
Officially, Ohio was admitted as the 17th state into the United States of America on March 1, 1803. There is some controversy when exactly Ohio was admitted as a state with some dates putting the actual admission at November 29, 1802. However, a 1953 legislation pinned the date at March 1,1803. That makes Ohio 212-years-old today and still looking fantastic after all these years.
The public in and around Columbus is invited to the Statehouse until 3 p.m. today for a free event in observance of "Statehood Day". These activities, according to the Dispatch, will include a "hands-on art project, a special tour featuring state symbols, a scavenger hunt, and birthday cake." For those unable to make that event, feel free to toast the Buckeye State here.
