Free at last! Free at last! THANK BASED GOD ALMIGHTY, I am free at last!!!!!!

For years, my ears and soul have languished under the iron fist of Power 107.5 in Columbus, and for what? Frank Ocean songs and R&B? (The only use I have for R&B is during fornication, and I haven't done that since 1996.)

But last night — again, on the same day I helped spread the gospel of the Based God — I found out 106.7 is back to being a rap station.

I'll see you in the darkest pits of Hell, Power 107.5.

CINCINNATI'S PLAYOFF AMBITIONS. TIL: Cincinnati has playoff ambitions.

From Brian Bennett of ESPN:

How's this for a Sunday morning wake-up call? Tuberville started his day by picking up a copy of the Cincinnati Enquirer expecting to read about his team's win on Saturday night. Instead, the paper ran a front-page story about Ohio State's historical dominance over in-state programs and whether the Bearcats could do something about it.

Such are the problems for non-Ohio State programs when one hasn't beaten Ohio State since the dynasty of Warren G. Harding.

"That's everyone's goal around the country, to get to the playoff," linebacker Nick Temple said. "If not, then I feel like you're not a winning program."

[...]

"Honestly, there are about 10 to 12 schools that have a chance to get there every year," Tuberville said. "Every now and then, you might have one of us sneak in.

"But when I say 'us,' I mean 60 to 70 percent of even Power 5 schools. This school has been to two BCS bowls. Oklahoma State hasn't done that. Ole Miss hasn't. Has Georgia been to two?

And that's the double-standard of playing Cincinnati, I suppose. If Ohio State wins, it doesn't help Ohio State's playoff hopes. But, if Cincinnati wins, it somehow proves they belong with the big boys.

I've been rough on Brian Bennett in the past, but he spent some time with Cincinnati and did a bang-up job with this article. I recommend it in full.

KEYSHAWN JOHNSON WEIGHS IN ON OSU MATTERS. Say what you will about him (read: I know he can be a dick...) but I like Keyshawn Johnson. This article from Dave Briggs of The Toledo Blade just reaffirmed that.

Did you know his son is also looking at Ohio State?

“I like Ohio State,” Johnson, Sr., told The Blade. “I like the school. I like everything about it. My son likes it, so we'll see.”

On the myth of "the Percy Harvin position:"

“What you’ve got to get good at is everything,” Johnson said. “I don't believe in this myth that there is a Percy Harvin position. That's not true. That's anybody's position who wants it. Just because your body type doesn't look like Percy Harvin doesn't mean that you can't do the same thing."

On his nephew, wide receiver Mike Thomas, who leads the team in catches (11), receiving yards (214) and touchdown catches (4):

“In time, as he continues to build a resume, his personality will come out,” Johnson said with a laugh. “He's a quiet trash-talker. He'll tweet it out, and he's going to do some of that trash that he shouldn't be doing. I've had to tell him about that too. Tone that down. Leave that alone. You don't need to be tweeting. Let these other idiots in the world do that. You just keep catching touchdowns.”

Gotta think as long as Michael Thomas continues to develop at Ohio State, that will only bode well in the future recruitment of Keyshawn Jr.

IS CINCINNATI-OSU A RIVALRY? Jeff Svoboda over at BuckeyeSports.com dropped < 2,000 words parsing if Cincinnati-Ohio State is a rivalry.

A nail might consider a hammer a rival, but I don't think the hammer would say the same about the nail. (Considering Cincinnati hasn't beaten Ohio State since 1897, I'll leave the reader to decide which school is the hammer and which is the nail.)

Cincinnati isn't in Ohio State's league (literally), and it's not like they're competing over the same types of recruits.

And, sorry, Bearcats, but it's going to take more than two victories in 117 years to change that. #JustFacts #JustSaying

ALABAMA RECRUITED AN ANCIENT #TEEN. Uh, no wonder Calvin Ridley is a five-star prospect?

From Brian McLaughlin of SaturdayDownSouth.com:

Ridley is a south Florida native who knew his game last Friday would be his final one in high school. In Florida, once you hit the 19 years and 9 months mark, you are ineligible to compete in high school athletics. The five-star wide receiver prospect caught 7 passes for 186 yards in his final game at Monarch High School, and his final reception was a 40-yarder for a score. A poetic way to end a prep career. Ridley played in three high school games this season.

The hell is a 20-year-old doing in high school? I guess it's a good thing Alabama isn't renowned for its academics.

BIG TEN RECORD ODDS. SBNation's Bill Connelly did a bunch of math stuff with Big Ten advanced stats and tried to project conference play. Here's one of his tables:

poooor purdue

Folks... this is why I associate numbers, stats and math with dark, arcane magic. ONLY A 3.7% CHANCE FOR OSU TO RUN THE TABLE?  58.3% OHIO STATE FINISHES WITH TWO OR THREE LOSSES?

I want to ban math. I want to ban math. I want to ban math.
