Ohio State Pro Day for the March 23rd 2017 Skull Session

Ohio State hosts its annual pro day after Thursday's practice, the fourth of the 2017 spring. Guys like Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley look to cement their first-round status.

Dontre Wilson hopes to catch somebody's eye:

Warren G. Harding have mercy on the Cleveland Browns if they fail to send an emissary two and a half hours south on I-71.

Word of the Day: Rapacious.

HOOKER ONLY PARTIALLY SIDELINED. Doctors originally sidelined Malik Hooker for four-to-six months after hip labrum and hernia surgery. Hooker told combine reporters he's well ahead of that schedule.

However, Hooker won't participate in drills today. Not that he needs it, his first-round status seems destined at this point (not bad for a one-year starter in Columbus). That doesn't mean Hooker will take the day off, though. He can still meet with NFL teams.

From nfl.com:

As he recently revealed to NFL.com, he shows no signs of slowing down and is already jogging. He is also not afraid to get front and center at Ohio State's pro day on Thursday, even if he is "just talking to scouts." Hooker told us Monday that he won't be able to do drills but is more than happy to answer any lingering questions.

The pro day will be one of the most visible workout sessions on the spring calendar, especially after the Buckeyes pumped out three top-10 picks and five total first-rounders a year ago. Hooker has had his eye on a high first-round selection for months now.

[...]

"My talent has gotten me this far," he said. "My talent and hard work have gotten me this far."

I watched Hooker start 13 games this season, which as a fan, gives me keen psychological insight into his personality. Hooker's prowess gets the hype (as it should), but he's an even-keeled personality organizations that endure high-stress situations need.

He could be a great marketing tool to Urban Meyer's program for the next decade.

GENERATION Z PROBABLY DOESN'T REMEMBER THIS. Want to feel old? This happened ten years ago next week:

I'm not sure what's weirder: That shot being 10 years old or Ohio State making a deep run in the tournament.

Lewis sat down with Ron Hampton of The Sports Fan Journal in a necessary interview for any Buckeye hoops fan craving a connection to March Madness:

TSFJ: Your Buckeyes were trailing by nine points with 2:54 left in the game, what was the team’s demeanor at the time?

RL: The team was looking for someone to step up at the time. Given that I had experience playing in that atmosphere the team turned to me for leadership. Being a senior I knew I wasn’t going down without a fight. During the time, I kept thinking we can’t leave with an early exit.

TSFJ: The great Gus Johnson eloquently stated, you refused to let your team lose, can explain your thought process nearing the end of the game?

RL: Prior to the start of the game, my brother, Lamont Carter repeatedly told me “Don’t let ‘em lose Lew.” With that ingrained in me, my thought process was to take over the game. (Lewis finished with 27 points, 8 rebounds and shot 80 percent from three) With us being a No. 1 seed, I didn’t want our memorable season to go down the drain.

All I remember thinking the local team was about to lose to X A V I E R before I blacked out and awoke to Musketeers fans demanding a felonious assault indictment against "that thug" Greg Oden. Looking back, I cherish that shot more than the comeback against Tennessee, which, hell, why don't we watch also:

ELFLEIN EDUCATES A MICHIGAN MAN. Pat Elflein wasn't the only 2017 NFL draft prospect to seek out the dojo of LeCharles Bentley.

Former Michigan offensive lineman Kyle Kalis, who may have a future in professional wrestling, also sought the tutelage of the former Buckeye legend.

People will get their jokes off with Kalis, which is fine because that's how sports work. To me, the rational blogger, he paid his tax when he went 0-5 after his "blood on the field" comments. He'll carry that to the grave.

FORMER BUCKEYES STILL CHASING DREAMS. Here's former Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn running the 40-yard-dash Wednesday at Ashland's pro day:

No times were readily available, but Dunn looks to pass the eye test.

Also remember when Noah Spence and Jamal Marcus were two bright spots in the defense's dumpster fire during the 2013 season and how they never played another game in the Scarlet and Gray?

Spence is with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Marcus ended up at Akron. He too looks ready for his chance at an NFL roster, however it may come.

From Marcus' Instagram:

LOOKIN' GOOD, 1940s! We all know and love High Street in 2017. Here's what it looked like after America dumped Hitler's sorry ass:
