Nick Bosa has played his last game as a Buckeye, but don't worry, we've been preparing for this.

ICYMI

Word of the Day: Lugubrious.

MICHAEL JORDAN, ALL-AMERICAN. Michael Jordan found his way onto another midseason All-American list as Sports Illustrated named the Buckeye center a first-teamer.

From SI.com:

C: Michael Jordan, Ohio State, Jr.

Jordan has started 34 straight games for the Buckeyes, moving from guard to center after his freshman season without missing a beat. He’s been a stabilizing force as Dwayne Haskins has stepped into the starting quarterback role in Columbus and found immediate success.

So you're telling me that for three-straight years, Ohio State has put a guy at center for the first time in his college career and he's immediately the best in the country? I'll take it.

The second team features Dwayne Haskins and Chase Young, so the Buckeyes lost the best defensive end in the country and still have a potential All-American on the outside. That seems unfair.

HASKINS FOR HEISMAN. Dwayne Haskins is in the thick of the Heisman race right now, putting up absolutely gaudy stats, but Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa is still the runaway favorite to win the trophy at the end of the year.

Odds are on Tua's side, but ESPN's David Hale isn't buying it, making the bold prediction that Haskins – not Tagovailoa – will win the Heisman Trophy in December.

From ESPN.com:

If the midpoint gives us a fairly clear picture of the playoff contenders, we tend to have a little worse track record predicting the Heisman. Tua Tagovailoa has been sensational so far, but he also has played limited second-half snaps, is currently battling an injury and lacks many marquee games to build a great Heisman narrative. Instead, Haskins can point to some big come-from-behind moments against TCU and Penn State and still has some huge matchups awaiting him. Moreover, he's on the field a whole lot more to pad that résumé.

I can see it, because Tua's odds are going to take a severe hit when the Tide get dumped by Joe Burrow and Co. in a few short weeks.

FLOSSING ON THE FIELD. If you needed any more evidence that The Ohio State University Marching Band is, in fact, The Best Damn Band in the Land, they made giant stick figures do the Floss dance on the field.

It's over. TBDBITL wins.

Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com caught up with band director Christopher Hoch, who revealed that the idea for the movement came courtesy of his 7-year-old son, Benny.

From Cleveland.com:

Q: Can you personally Floss? I cannot do the move, so I don't know how you got the whole band to do it.

Hoch: Well, kind of, is my answer. In order to chart the formations, I had to kind of do it in front of a mirror.

Q: So we were watching your flossing reflected in an entire band on the field?

Hoch: Actually, more than me, you're watching my son. My son was in the kitchen doing it, so that's actually where I actually learned what it was.

Q: Then you take it from the kitchen to Ohio Stadium.

Hoch: Kind of. Me and one of the graduate assistants were talking about what dance moves we could incorporate into the show, and that's kind of the trending thing now. So we were talking about that. We watched some videos. And that's when I said, 'Yeah, I recognize that, that's what my son was doing in the kitchen the other day."

The coolest trick my son does is pulling the blankets off of me and onto the floor so he can have them instead. We'll have to work on this one, right after we master keeping the litter in the litter box.

POTENTIAL CREW STADIUM LOCATIONS. The Crew ain't going anywhere, except maybe to a new stadium.

From Emily Bench of Columbus Business First:

One long-discussed site is on the western edge of the Arena District, where Nationwide Realty Investors Ltd. owns land once considered for the Hollywood Columbus Casino project. It has been planning a multifamily development there, but NRI President and COO Brian Ellis said Tuesday that he's willing to talk about other ideas, including a stadium.

"First and foremost, this is great for the city," he said in a statement. "Nationwide Realty Investors has been, and will remain open to considering any serious proposal related to our property west of Huntington Park, including any viable proposal from the new investor group. While we have had a few discussions about the property with the investor group, we have not received any specific proposals to acquire the site at this time."

Here are some options that have been discussed in the past:

  • Dodge Park in Franklinton. That's 16 acres of riverfront property that is owned by the city and is close to I-70 and I-71.
  • Mapfre Stadium. Some say the area around the old stadium could be turned into a mixed-use development that would serve as a gateway to the Ohio State campus.
  • Berliner Park. The city owns that site, too, with more than 200 acres south of downtown.

The most important thing is that The Crew get to stay. A shiny new stadium would just be the icing on the cake.

NEVER CHANGE, LANE. Lane Kiffin once offered a scholarship to a 13-year-old quarterback, who now plays receiver at West Virginia.

Folks, he's at it again.

From ESPN.com:

Cole Leinart, the son of Matt Leinart, a 5-foot-7 sixth-grader, now holds an offer from Florida Atlantic, ESPN confirmed. Kiffin has a relationship with the older Leinart from their time at USC, where Kiffin was the wide receivers coach and then the offensive coordinator for Leinart's final season with the Trojans.

The offer is a nice gesture from Kiffin, but the NCAA doesn't truly recognize football players as prospects until their ninth-grade year. A lot can happen between now and then as well, as Kiffin found out with Sills.

At least this one has college football royalty in his blood, but maybe he should consider Vince Young's offspring, given how that whole thing played out.
