We've got a big ring in today's skull session.

I feel like it would be a disservice to you all to not point out that although Ohio State's newest quarterback does have a glorious mullet, he's got nothing on former Buckeye tennis star J.J. Wolf.

Party in the back, indeed.

Word of the Day: Snivel.

THERE'S PRECEDENT! J.T. Tuimoloau's potential decision to play both football and basketball at the college level would be relatively unheard of these days, but he still wouldn't be the first to pull it off.

The alarm went off impossibly early inside John Lumpkin’s hotel room.

It was 5:30 a.m., and the Ohio State tight end, who had just helped the Buckeyes earn their first Rose Bowl win since 1974, had to get to the Los Angeles airport. On Jan. 2, 1997, Lumpkin had to get to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and try to help the men’s basketball team pull off an upset win against the No. 8 Wolverines at Crisler Arena.

The flight got him to Detroit, and Lumpkin made the 30-minute drive west, got a little bit more rest at the team hotel and arrived in time for warmups. He then chipped in four points and a rebound in 10 minutes as unranked Ohio State, having lost 18 of its past 19 Big Ten road games, pulled off a 73-71 stunner.

How’s that for a span of roughly 48 hours?

“That was one of the highlights of my life right there, being able to play in two major collegiate sports within a 48-hour period,” said Lumpkin, who is vice president of wealth management for Morgan Stanley in Dayton. “I don’t know how many people have done that.”

Now, with all do respect to Mr. Lumpkin, he was not a potential first-round pick in either sport, which certainly takes the pressure off attempting to be a multi-sport athlete.

I have absolutely no doubts that Tuimoloau could play basketball for the Buckeyes if he really wanted to, and it would absolutely make an awesome story. I'm just not really sure if that would be the most beneficial to him in the long run, so I'm quite doubtful this actually happens.

However, what's most beneficial to me – the Ohio State sports blogger – is that he strip sacks whatever warm body Michigan rolls out at quarterback this year three days before posterizing Paolo Banchero in the Schott.

So purely selfishly, let's make this two-sport thing happen, J.T.

IT WAS A STRIKE, OF COURSE. It's been one preseason game and Justin Fields is already proper Chicago royalty. He's even out here letting the White Sox know he's ready to help them with a playoff push, too.

People forget, he could have had himself a nice baseball career, too. Instead, he chose to be a generational quarterback, and I can't say I fault him.

SHOW AND TELL. This may come as a shock to you, but I have never participated in Ohio State's fall camp (although I do still have eligibility remaining, cc. Ryan Day). So I'm gonna have to leave it to the current players to give you a little insight on what you'd need to bring to survive that hotel life.

Things were going well and normal until I got to "a lot of dudes don't bring toothpaste and a toothbrush."

I'm sorry? Do we not brush our teeth anymore? Is this a generational thing I'm missing? I'm more than a little bit concerned.

C.J. SAUNDERS, NFL RECEIVER? C.J. Saunders arrived at Ohio State as a walk-on cornerback, switched to receiver, earned meaningful playing time while the Buckeyes were trailing a top-five team, and earned a scholarship before the NCAA unceremoniously ended his career by not giving him a waiver for his sixth year, resulting in him having to take a year off of football before even attempting an NFL career.

With all that, it only makes sense that the next step in this wild ride would be Saunders actually making an NFL roster at this point, and there's a shockingly real chance that happens. Especially if he keeps doing stuff like this.

That would be one hell of a pitch for Brian Hartline and the receivers room, by the way.

Come to Ohio State, where our walk-ons make active NFL rosters.
