It's Buckeye football eve. Congrats, everybody. We made it.
Word of the Day: Obdurate.
THORPE AWARD LOADING. Look, I've been conducting Demario McCall's Heisman Trophy campaign for a solid four years, but even I must admit that I was skeptical that he'd even be on the roster this year, much less making a meaningful impact.
I was even more skeptical when he not only changed positions but switched entire sides of the ball for the final season of his five-year career.
But as usual, it looks like I'm a dumbass.
Ryan Day says he wishes Demario McCall would have moved to cornerback earlier because Day likes what he's seen from McCall at his new position this offseason.

You're gonna see him on Thursday night.
And that quote didn't sound like he was blowing smoke up our collective asses, either.
Day gave a fairly lengthy answer about how proud he is of Demario and how much respect he has in that locker room for sticking around and doing whatever the team needs, and he seemed genuinely insistent that he was actually going to play meaningful snaps on Thursday.
At this point, I'll finally admit that a Heisman Trophy feels like a long shot.
... but a Thorpe Award is a nice consolation prize.
SEEMS GOOD! Expectations for Ohio State's head coach are totally unreasonable for an extremely reasonable reason – guys keep exceeding them.
I mean, look at this.
The impossible question:

Which ridiculous stat of the bunch is the most ridiculous? pic.twitter.com/TdmhndslNZ
Also, he just signed the highest-rated recruiting class in Ohio State history, after bringing in the highest-rated quarterback in program history in his first month on the job. So you really can't even make the argument that he's just been coasting with Urban Meyer's players.
The only complaint you can really have is that he hasn't won a national title yet. And even that just feels like a matter of time. Maybe it even happens this year. Who's to say!
JAMO STARTING AT BAMA. Ohio State's wide receivers room is so loaded, it's producing starting receivers for other top-five schools, too.
Alabama released its Week One depth chart yesterday, and former Ohio State receiver Jameson Williams is at the top as the Tide's starting Z receiver and one of the starting kick returners.

My next question is – and I ask in full sincerity with as little arrogance as possible – how many Ohio State receivers could immediately start for any program in the country? I know it's at least two, and it very well could be three.
RELENTLESS PERSONIFIED. NFL roster cut day is always bittersweet. It's always full of heartbreak from guys narrowly missing out on making a roster, but on the flip side we get incredible things like Jonathon Cooper making an NFL team after some rather insane circumstances.
#Broncos Jonathon Cooper said I never took anything for granted. No better story in terms of player making team. He underwent 3 8 hour heart procedures before training camp. Cooper plays with relentless energy. #Denver7 pic.twitter.com/UzF4xeS3eJ

To borrow Jordan Fuller's words, Cooper is "if 'relentless' was a person." Dude's going to have himself a nice, long NFL career.
SONG OF THE DAY. "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" by Cage the Elephant.
NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. Police investigate after rhino head is found on a street corner... Was a bank teller the victim, or the heist's mastermind?...
