This year's Big Ten Media Days are on hold.

The Big Ten announced Friday that the annual preseason event, where the conference's football coaches and players meet with the media to look ahead to the upcoming season, “will not be held as scheduled in order to ensure the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans, partners and media” as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Big Ten Football Media Days and Kickoff Luncheon were scheduled to be held July 22-23 in Chicago, where they typically take place each year.

The conference has not yet announced whether media days will be moved to a virtual format, as most other Football Bowl Subdivision conferences – including the Big 12, Pac-12, AAC, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt – already have. Per Friday's announcement, the Big Ten “will continue to monitor developing information and continue to consult with medical experts to determine the appropriate dates and format for our annual event.”
