On the same day the Big Ten officially kicked off its long-awaited 2020 football season, the league's television network announced a comprehensive rebrand.

The Big Ten Network will now be called the B1G Network, with new logos and branding concepts to provide consistency for its coverage of the league.

It's the first update to the brand since its inception in 2007, which aired its first live broadcast on a quiet September day in Ann Arbor. FCS gimme Appalachian State visited No. 5 Michigan for a game that unfolded as one of the greatest upsets in modern college football history.

Thirteen years later, the successful network has a new image.

"Our mission has been to serve as THE destination for fans and alumni on all things Big Ten," Big Ten Network president François McGillicuddy said, according to the league's official release. "The new look leans heavily on the iconic B1G mark, which has come to represent the athletic and academic success of our 14 Big Ten universities, and underscores the nature of who we are and what we do."

Per that release, the league also intends to overhaul the Big Ten Network + feature as well, which will give fans access to non-televised events and replays.
