Payday has finally arrived for college athletes across America.
In case you have not heard, the Power Five conferences and NCAA agreed to a multi-billion dollar antitrust settlement last week that will establish a framework for schools directly paying their student athletes going forward. This serves as yet another massive change to the college sports landscape relative to financial incentives for players after kicking off of the NIL era only a few years earlier.
Johnny and I jumped at the chance to give our thoughts on what kind of long-term ramifications this shift will have for not just Ohio State and its football team, but sports across the athletic department and at universities throughout the United States as well.
Additionally, the Dubcast discussion also covers:
- Now that revenue sharing will encompass schools paying their student athletes, what kind of downsizing can we expect from Ohio State's massive athletic department as well as those of smaller universities?
- Although paying players has existed as a goal for many attached to college sports for a very long time, how should fans feel about such a massive change going into effect during a time when the transfer portal has eviscerated any concept of program loyalty?
- Ask Us Anything — writers to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com this week inquired about many topics, such as what is the best cardio exercise equipment?
- Wishing the best of long-term health to Billy Price in wake of his sudden NFL retirement.
- Deion Sanders' family in hot water again after details of his son Shilo getting into an altercation with a high school security guard become public after an eight-figure settlement.
