Well, we did it. The Eleven Dubcast finally decided to talk about men's basketball for once, and it only took us over 20 games into the season to serve up some piping hot takes about Jake Diebler and company.
We were hoping to ride the high of the Maryland comeback all the way to recording, but instead the Buckeyes tripped over their own shoelaces against Nebraska and made several "yeah that's right, Ohio State's a BUBBLE TEAM" articles look a little premature (if not downright silly). Talent-wise, this team has the chops to get to March Madness, but their extreme difficulty in putting together consistent performances are going to make their final slate of generally easy matchups probably a lot more dramatic than they really should be.
Will they go dancing? Who the hell knows! But they'd at least better beat Michigan.
Also: Ryan Day got paid, but more interestingly, seems to be staking a lot of Ohio State's football future on a staff of relatively young and inexperienced coaches performing in roles new to them. It's a bigger gamble than I think many appreciate, and it'll be fascinating watching it all play out.
- Okay, the Maryland comeback was sweet, but it'd be nice if an essential part of the basketball team didn't randomly fail every game
- What's the ultimate goal for this season? And can Diebler accomplish it before the Big Ten tournament?
- Ask Us Anything, which you can do by sending us questions to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com, wants to know our pick for the Super Bowl halftime show next year
- Ryan's rich! Some of this is just what happens after a natty, but his approach towards building his staff is an interesting one
- At some point you're going to have to bring in somebody with a veteran presence on defense, but hell, maybe that's just LJ's role now
- The big game was big butt
And that's the Dubcast for this week!
