Ramzy passed this article around earlier, and while it seems like a mundane 2013 recap of Dave Brandon missing a Duke-Michigan basketball game to watch his son coach, there's an interesting tidbit buried near the bottom.
From Pete Cunningham of MLive.com (emphasis mine):
Nick [Brandon] was steered toward coaching girls in college when he played for the Ohio State women’s basketball team’s practice squad. Even after four years of observing the women’s game at the Division I level, he said his father has been the most influential person in his path to coaching.
“No one has meant more to my career as a coach than my dad,” Nick said. “The advice that he’s been giving me, the support he’s been giving me. It’s amazing.”
Nick Brandon was born in Michigan's hospital, and by all accounts grew up as a Michigan Man... but ended up attending Ohio State? That's pretty wild.
MAYBE DAVE BRANDON IS TRULY THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.
