Ohio State's Alpha Tau Omega's stated goal for its 12th annual Casino Night is to raise $50,000 for cancer research at the James Cancer Center. It received a big boost towards that goal on Tuesday afternoon.
Urban Meyer and his wife, Shelley, plan to attend the fraternity's anti-cancer fundraiser, just as Jim Tressel did in his day. The event is scheduled for March 4, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Archie Griffin Ballroom in the Ohio Union. In the past, the event raised more than $275,000 to fight cancer:
Casino Night is a formal attire event, featuring a variety of casino style games, such as blackjack, roulette, and craps, among others. Guests play these games with a set amount of fake money and turn in their “winnings” for raffle tickets to try to win a number of prizes raffled off at the conclusion of the night. Past prizes have included cruises, spa treatments, golf rounds, a variety of gift certificates, and autographed sports memorabilia.
Sponsorship packages range from $300 to $5,000. Individual tickets are $25 for students, $60 for adult singles and $100 for adult couples.
Along with a bevy of current players, past Buckeye footballers that will be in attendance include Jake Ballard, Anthony Schlegel, Jim Cordle and Justin Zwick.
