Welcome to Campus Connection, the only place where you'll see coverage of the Ohio State pottery club or chess team throughout the #interwebz.
Despite the football team losing to Oklahoma over the weekend, students have resumed their relatively normal lives on the Ohio State campus, going back to their studies, clubs, and activities.
One such activity is the unofficial Ohio State Poker Club, started by freshman Avery Roe and his roommate Zack Handorf. Thus far, the duo has recruited about 10 members to join the club.
"I used to play [poker] a lot with my high school friends. I missed playing and I felt like it was a good way to meet some new guys," Roe said.
The club, which will meet every Monday at 8:00 p.m starting next week, will use chips and cards provided by the students, but will not necessarily be a 'cash game.'
"We have to decide what we want to do. I think most members are still on the fence, so we will see," Roe said. "Whether there's money involved or not, I'm just excited to meet some new people and hopefully have a lot of fun."
Regardless, the main virtue of the club is sure to be the break it can provide members on a weeknight as a diversion from the traditional "class-homework-sleep" schedule some college students face during the week.
"Hopefully the lure of the fun can attract us some more members," Roe said. "We are really looking forward to kicking this club off with a bang, and the more members, the better."
As for this weekend's game against Army, Roe predicts a big win for the Buckeyes. "I think Ohio State will win pretty easily. 42-17 is my prediction."
