One of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal is off the board.
Former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard, who was widely considered to be one of the best quarterbacks available in the transfer portal, announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Tuesday.

Notre Dame was viewed as the frontrunner to land Leonard from the moment he entered the portal, and his commitment comes less than a week after he wrapped up an official visit in South Bend. He becomes the second ACC quarterback in two years to transfer to Notre Dame, as he’ll take the reins from former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman as the Fighting Irish quarterback next season.
Ohio State was believed to have interest in Leonard and had reportedly made a push to bring Leonard to Columbus for an official visit, but that visit never materialized.
Whether the Buckeyes will make a stronger push for the other top quarterbacks in the transfer portal remains uncertain. Ohio State has been loosely connected to Washington State’s Cam Ward, UCLA’s Dante Moore and Kansas State’s Will Howard, but the Buckeyes have not scheduled a visit with any of them as of yet.
