The son of a Buckeye legacy is changing sides in the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.
Ohio 2025 quarterback Chase Herbstreit, the son of former Ohio State quarterback and current ESPN commentator Kirk Herbstreit, committed to the Wolverines on Sunday. A 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal caller, Herbstreit played quarterback for St. Xavier, where he passed for 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 649 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.

While Herbstreit's 247Sports page does not list any current Division I offers, 247Sports scouting analyst Allen Trieu reported Sunday that Herbsteit's Michigan offer will include a full scholarship.
Herbstreit's older brother, Zak, is currently a walk-on tight end for Ohio State. Chase grew up a big Ohio State fan but will now join the Buckeyes' biggest rival.
“It’s the only option,” Chase Herbstreit told Eleven Warriors when asked about his aspiration to play at Ohio State at a recruiting camp two years ago. “That’s all I care about. Just going here, and if I could win a national championship here, that would just mean the world … I’m open to anything, but I really want to go here.”
