The Lane Kiffin to Houston train is officially dead. The Cougars decided on Friday to promote from within as they continue their H-Town Takeover.
Houston athletic director Hunter Yurachek posted the news to his Twitter account, putting a definitive stake in Kiffin to Houston reports. Applewhite served as Tom Herman's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the last two seasons.

We mention Kiffin because Dan Wolken of USA Today reported on Thursday that Houston had decided to hire the Alabama offensive coordinator to replace Herman. In a brilliant use of Twitter, Yurachek refuted that report on Twitter.

Yurachek posted a similar photo on Friday morning, only with the smoke slipping out from the chimney on the Sistine Chapel being red to signify the end to Houston's coaching search.
The coaching carousal continues to turn.
