Update: Michigan hired Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford to replace Hart.
The coaching turnover continues at Michigan.
After hiring a completely new defensive coaching staff and replacing director of strength and conditioning Ben Herbert, he'll also be charged with replacing the team's running backs coach.
Per Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News, running backs coach Mike Hart will not be retained by Michigan for the 2024 season after his contract expired on Jan. 10. Per the report, Hart has not been connected to any NFL or college jobs, nor is it clear who will replace him at Michigan.
Hart was the Wolverines' running backs coach the past three seasons, serving as the team's run game coordinator the past two. Blake Corum was a two-time All-American while Hassan Haskins also earned second-team All-American honors under Hart’s tenure.
With Hart gone, only four members of Michigan’s 2023 coaching staff are returning for the 2023 season: Moore, who was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach; Kirk Campbell, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator; Grant Newsome, who was moved from tight ends coach to offensive line coach; and Ron Bellamy, who remains the Wolverines’ wide receivers coach.
