Georgia started 2024 as the No. 1 team in college football. Eleven weeks later, the Bulldogs have two losses.
Georgia fell to Ole Miss, 28-10, in Oxford on Saturday. The No. 3 Bulldogs allowed five sacks and nine tackles for loss as quarterback Carson Beck – a preseason favorite to win the Heisman – tossed his 11th interception of the season and fumbled the ball twice with one lost. Meanwhile, quarterback Jaxson Dart led the No. 16 Rebels with 200 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception while running for 50 yards in the win.
Dart's 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Antwane Wells Jr. was the game-winner for Ole Miss, who also saw kicker Caden Davis make five field goals. The Rebels' other score was a 9-yard touchdown from running back Ulysses Bentley in the first quarter.
Georgia's loss dropped the Bulldogs to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in SEC competition, while Ole Miss improved to 8-2 and 4-2. Both teams now rank near the middle of the pack in the Southeastern Conference, as Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1), Texas (8-1, 4-1) and Tennessee (7-1, 4-1) have control over the top three spots.
