Ohio State and Michigan both have offensive coordinators named Chip.
On Tuesday, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported that North Carolina's Chip Lindsey has filled the Wolverines' vacant offensive coordinator role. Lindsey has previous experience as a playcaller at UCF, Auburn, Arizona State and Southern Miss. He was also Troy's head coach from 2019-21.

Lindsey led the nation's No. 35 scoring offense and No. 39 total offense this season, as North Carolina averaged 31.2 points and 415.3 yards per game in 2024. The Tar Heels also ranked No. 53 in yards per play (5.7), No. 77 in third-down conversion percentage (38.71) and No. 49 in red-zone scoring percentage (86.84).
When Lindsey takes over as offensive coordinator at Michigan, he will inherit the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class, Bryce Underwood. However, he will lose the team's top running backs from this past season, Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards, as well as its top receiver, Tyler Morris. Tight end Colston Loveland, who led Michigan with 56 catches, 582 yards and five touchdowns this fall, is considered one of the top NFL prospects at his position but could return for his last year of eligibility.
