Baylor vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Mack Rhoades is the College Football Playoff selection committee's new chairman for the 2025 season.
Rhoades is entering his 10th season as the Bears' AD and his second year of a three-year term on the CFP selection committee. Baylor won its first-ever men's basketball national championship under Rhoades and head coach Scott Drew – one of Jake Diebler's mentors – in 2021.
Rhoades will replace Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel as CFP selection committee chairman, with Manuel's three-year term on the selection committee having concluded. Manuel served as chairman for just one season in 2024.
With two years left on Rhoades' selection committee term, he could serve as chairman in 2025 and 2026. The latter year could oversee an expansion from 12 to 14 or 16 teams and a change of format, as the Big Ten and SEC appear eager to move toward once the contract for the current 12-team model runs out in 2025.
