This thread about the myth of CFB parity (https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/college-sports/2021/01/120239/the-m...) got me thinking.
I posted in that thread: "the real truth is that is that talent is accumulating at the tippy top of the food chain in CFB at such a rate that in reality it's not even 10 teams that have a realistic shot at a title. It's more like 5 or 6. And the reality is also that if you're a fan of any team not in those 10, you realistically have nothing to root for each year and probably don't care a whole lot about CFB in general. If you're a Purdue fan, or TCU fan, or Washington State fan etc, CFB is becoming pretty darn uninteresting. That's not a good model to keep CFB vibrant and healthy. "
In the old dinosaur days there was a flicker of hope for teams to find lightning in a bottle, some gem players that grow up nearby that could carry the local school to glory. Very unlikely, but possible. Now, with modern recruiting and scouting, even that unlikely possibility is gone, the big dogs swoop in and take 5* players from all around the country.
So how do you fix it? How do you create some parity in CFB?
