The Nebraska Cornhuskers have two, two-game series scheduled with former Big Eight/Big XII rival Oklahoma with the first game scheduled to be played this September 18 in Norman. The second game of the current home/home is to take place in Lincoln on September 17, 2023. Another home/home series is scheduled to occur in 2029 in Norman and 2030 in Lincoln. The 2021 game was scheduled to celebrate the 1971 "Game of the Century" which was played on Thanksgiving Day between #1 Nebraska and #2 Oklahoma which the Cornhuskers won 35-31.
According to Nebraska AD, the financial hit of the pandemic has caused the Cornhuskers to consider adding another home game to help the university and the businesses of Lincoln. Nebraska already has 7 games scheduled in Lincoln instead of the usual 6 home games. Now, apparently, Nebraska wants 8 home games.
I can't help but think of the financial hit Nebraska fans will take in their wallets if an 8th game is added to their season ticket.
Nebraska head coach Scott Frost said last summer, "we will play anyone, anywhere, anytime". Apparently, except for the Sooners.
