Of the 12 teams that have/had the most players in the portal, only UNC (13th) was ranked in the final 2020 Top 25 poll. Of course, almost all of them have head coaches who’ve been there two seasons or less so it makes sense if they’re cleaning house.
It doesn’t explain Michigan and TCU, though, as Jim Harbaugh (6 seasons) and Gary Patterson (21 seasons) are far from new to their jobs.
