I imagine some of you saw the rankings of the Top 100 College Football Coaches of the Past 50 Years compiled by Bill Connelly at ESPN+.  I think it’s tough putting together any kind of list such as that—although I don’t have any major disagreements with the very top of the leaderboard.

But what if there were a list of the Top Overrated College Football Coaches of the Past 50 Years (or the Past 25 Years)?

I wonder: would Harbaugh be competing for that top spot?  Considering where he ranks on the salary list of major college coaches and the hype surrounding his return to his alma mater—combined with the level of underachievement in the significant games his teams have played in—is he the biggest bust in recent memory?

If there hadn’t been the special prior connection between Harbaugh and his school, would he have even lasted into this season? 

If Harbaugh is not #1, does he at least warrant a Top 5 ranking in your opinion?
