Well, another week in the B1G, another slate of games.
As always, I checked ESPN's scoreboard to see the entry price (As Low As) for each game. And, as we all know, these values do not reflect the extra taxes or fees of which we're accustom.
Because there's two bye weeks this year four of the 18 B1G teams are off duty this week. In fact, outside of the Wrigley Field Experience, this week is very subpar in terms of prices.
There's ONE big ticket item this week, and the rest are duds.
Home | Away | As Low As | notes |
---|---|---|---|
Purdon't | Penn State | $4 | a slaughter, we already know |
Maryland | Rutgers | $5 | two teams struggling for a bowl, bleh |
Washington | UCLA | $6 | see above, who cares -- also on a Friday |
Illinois | MSU | $8 | #Bert |
Wisconsin | Oregon | $42 | They have a chance (no, they really don't) |
USC | Nebraska | $43 | Even Duds cost more in LA |
Northwestern | OSU!!! | $249 | Wrigley 'not long enough' Field |
- Cheaper than a combo meal division
- FOUR Conference games start out LOWER than double digits. While the regular season is ending, these fan bases stopped caring a long time ago.
- If you and 10 friends can beat Purdue, imagine what Penn State will do? $4 is too high.
- $42.50 division
- Wisconsin fans get to see a real playoff team and there's always the hope for a shock.
- Oregon wins easy, but don't tell the Fighting Fickells
- Nebraska has some bite and USC still has fans. Oh well, it's good for USC fans to keep up the prices.
- Wisconsin fans get to see a real playoff team and there's always the hope for a shock.
- the $249 WRIGLEY EXPERIENCE
- When the stadium is the main storyline, the game is either a dud or one-sided. In this case, it's the latter.
- Finally a stadium where both endzones are next to an, albeit padded, brick wall. One end zone is SO close, the offense has to play one way the entire game.
- In an era where player safety is paramount, it's nice to know the B1G will risk injury if it sounds cool... CFB in Wrigley.
Above: a completely safe, nothing to see here, stadium. Yep, player safety #1, that's what I say.
