For the first time in NCAA history, 7 of the top 10 ranked basketball teams lost in a single day- including each of the top 6 teams. All in all, the following teams were defeated:
- #1 Gonzaga (lost 57-67 to #23 Saint Mary’s)
- #2 Arizona (lost 63-79 to unranked Colorado)
- #3 Auburn (lost 62-67 to #17 Tennessee)
- #4 Purdue (lost 65-68 to unranked Michigan State)
- #5 Kansas (lost 70-80 to #10 Baylor)
- #6 Kentucky (lost 73-75 to #18 Arkansas)
- #9 Texas Tech (lost 66-69 to unranked TCU)
A day like that certainly gives the impression that, more than ever, any team has a chance this year during March Madness.
