The NCAA is considering a rule change that would allow players to appeal any targeting ejection that happens in the second half of a game. Before the team's next game the appeal would be heard and, if it is determined that the player was incorrectly penalized for targeting, the player would not have to miss the first half of the following game.
As the rule currently states...If a player is flagged for targeting in the first half of a game, the player misses the rest of that game. If the targeting penalty happens in the second half of a game, the player misses the rest of the second half and the first half of the following game.
