Coach K now sits atop the Final Four appearance perch with 13 total appearances, surpassing the late John Wooden and his 12 appearances. This is quite the feat in his final season, regardless of your feelings on the living legend. He also accomplished each of these Final Four appearances in a larger tournament field than Wooden ever did. Coach K's appearances always came in a minimum 64-team format, whereas the majority of Wooden's came in a 25-team format, with Wooden's final appearance coming in the inaugural season of the 32-team field.
If UNC is able to take out St. Peter's (*eye-roll*) tonight, what a treat for the fans to have a Final Four match-up with their rival in Coach K's final shot at a title. Screw them, though. They ruined my chances at a perfect Final Four as I had Duke-UCLA-Villanova-Kansas in one of my brackets that I entered into a $970 pot pool.
