[This is from a couple of days ago, but in case anyone missed it…]
Despite the ever changing landscape of college football, the Rose Bowl is one entity that has decided to stay close to their history and tradition, opting out of being one of the four rotating semi-final destinations for the College Football Playoff. Left to choose whether they wanted to maintain their tradition of holding the Rose Bowl on January 1 every year or jumping into the limelight of the semi-final for the new 12-team payoff, they opted for January 1.

While it’s admirable that they are among very few remaining entities in college football that has chosen to stick with tradition, they would have offered the perfect venue to host one of the semi-final games. They have such a beautiful, non-southern, and historic venue that would have shined bright hosting two of the four remaining teams batting for that title game. This also takes one of the B1G Ten stadiums out of the rotation, relegating the “northern” teams to destinations primarily located in the south, in enemy territory.

Here’s to hoping they one day decide to be a part of the semi-final stadiums again. Any thoughts or reactions to this decision? Full article with more details here:
