Situations like this are what scares me the most about NIL. This was borderline extortion on the part of Nico and his family (despite his play on the field last year not warranting a $2 million raise) and good on Heupel for not playing that game for a very replaceable starting QB. In Ohio State's case there's maybe two players on our very talented roster (JJ and Downs) that if they started playing NIL hardball like this in the off-season MAYBE I'd consider caving to their demands (and that's still a big if which makes me appreciate that our guys don't appear to be like this and are all about the team now that they're here)
