There's an article in todays edition of The Athletic about Ohio State's attempt to build a new arena to house both the men's and women's hockey team. The original plan called for an arena of 4,000 seats and apparently that is off the boards. Ohio State averages around 5,600 fans per Big Ten conference game so the 4,000 seat design was woefully inadequate. Now it looks like it's going to be even smaller. At what point should Gene Smith throw in the towel and wait for the next AD with new ideas to figure this out? I don't subscribe to The Athletic and I'm not asking anyone to post the article, but just building an arena, any arena, seems like a colossal waste of money.
Is Ohio State Downsizing New Hockey Arena?
