I know we're doing "no divisions" right now and the protected rivalries and rotating games thing (forget the cute name for that).
But if/when we add other schools, even that becomes more cumbersome.
What do you think of these natural divisions, and who would best fit for additions, if this were the organizing principle?
Pacific: UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington
West: Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin
Central: Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana
East: Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State
Atlantic: Rutgers, Maryland, ?, ?
Possible candidates for the "Atlantic division":
Virginia (basketball school, kind of. Southern state. SEC wants. Blue blood.)
North Carolina (definitely basketball school, same as above.)
Clemson (sort of a football school.)
Florida State.
Miami.
"Fit" wise, I guess I'd take UNC and FSU.
