Four-star Ohio offensive tackle Sam Greer commits to Ohio State.
WOW. There's going to be a new #1 team this week, and Ohio State has an argument to be that group. More adversity overcome than any team in the country, better wins than any team in the country, and just starting to really look like an absolute monster.
The Buckeyes are rolling on all cylinders, and have all the momentum in the world as they hit the downhill part of their Big Ten schedule.
No remaining team looks that scary. And if you're Ohio State, the hardest game is now your sweetest win
Penn State got things rolling early, winning the chaos Ohio State usually thrives in. The Buckeyes allowed two cheap goals on rebounds, and also had a broken play goal allowed. Then, they took over. A grinding, rough affair resulted in a tie score at halftime.
Once the game restarted in the third, however, the Buckeyes put things away with a 3-goal run that had Penn State playing catchup all night. It was amazing.
Stars of the night are Jack Oldman, who utterly dominated the dot, and Caleb Fyock, who played a masterful game in net to stymie a Penn State team that had nearly double the shots of Ohio State.
This Buckeye offense is turning into a juggernaut because everyone contributes. Jack McKenna had his most productive game as a Buckeye with a goal and 3 assists. No player had more than 2 goals. But at the end of the game, there were 13 tallies on the board.
This is easily the most depth Ohio State has ever had, outside of the specialists. The defense is arguably the best in the country. The SSDMs have really stepped up, which I never thought could happen after last year.
This is the best team, top to bottom, Nick Myers has coached in Columbus. The 2017 team lost to Penn State 6-5. This team went to PSU's extremely hostile Lacrosse-only stadium and won by 4 goals. At night. On a Sunday.
IF, and it's a big if, things keep going this way, get ready for Memorial Day. Because this is a top 2 team in the country. Period. And they're going to be a handful for everyone. Even UNC, who is maybe the other best team in the country, with a much better offense than Ohio State's. But a WAY easier schedule.
Enjoy tonight. And dream of tomorrow. Because the Buckeyes are BACK!
GO BUCKS!
