A former Buckeye had a huge night in an upset win over Kentucky on Tuesday.
Meechie Johnson, who transferred from Ohio State to South Carolina over the offseason, put up a career-high 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting as the Gamecocks downed the Wildcats, 71-68, at Rupp Arena.
The Cleveland native's been on a tear as of late. Johnson scored a then-career-high 25 points against Western Kentucky just four games ago, and after Tuesday night's performance, he's averaging 17.4 points per game in his past nine.
Johnson entered the day as South Carolina's second-leading scorer for the season with an average of 12.2 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
